On This Day - 7 September. In 1871 Nathan Coker, a blacksmith from Easton, Maryland, demonstrated his fire immunity before many prominent local officials. Unlike some other famous fire handlers, Coker needed no trance or preparation. A shovel was heated to a white-glow, and Coker 'pulled off his boots and placed the hot shovel on the soles of his feet, and kept it there until the shovel became black.' (New York Herald 7 Sept 1871). He also swilled molten lead-shot around his mouth until it solidified; held glowing coals in his hands; and took a red-hot iron out of the fire with his hands.

England 0 - 1 Northern Ireland!! That is some result....any chance of winning the next 2 matches?
