1 year on..
Today is a year since 52 people were killed in the attacks on London.
Now this is the bit which will get me abuse...I don't believe the 2 minutes silence is appropriate.
Why? Well, there is a good reason....where are the 2 minutes silence for all those killed by the IRA? I am not saying that those killed shouldn't be remembered, I am just saying a bit of proportion is required.
September 11th quite rightly has a memorial service...as does 11th November for fairly obvious reasons, although it's scope has been widened to include all those killed in combat.
Feel free to dispute my reasoning in the comments.

[edit : I believe it should be up to the families involved to have a moment of reflection, rather than the country being ordered to by the Government.]

no dispute here! i agree with ya about the proportion thing, and that the moment of reflection is only really "useful" for the families involved ..
